P16 – New Technologies for Cells and Tissues Electropermeabilization

This special session aims to provide an overview of new technologies for the generation, application and optimization of protocols for the use of pulsed electric fields in biomedical treatments, using non-contact and/or targeted approaches through in vitro and in vivo experiments in combination with theoretical and numerical analyses. This session will discuss physical methods and phenomena, such as pulsed electromagnetic fields using electromagnetic coils to non-invasively induce an electric field in the treated tissue through a time-varying magnetic field, and approaches using mmWave and/or THz antennas for non-contact manipulation or detection of cell permeability. Another focus is to improve the permeabilisation of cell membranes using nanoparticles of different geometries and materials, which can be either naked or functionalized.
