P6 – Microalgae Biorefinery

Microalgae biomass are recognized as an excellent source of proteins, lipids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, carotenoids, valuable pigments and vitamins, and can be used in the food, feed, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and bio-fuel industries. In the scope of this session, we will focus on the recent developments and studies that explore the impact of PEF technologies on the cell membrane permeabilization and the intensification and selective extraction of intracellular compounds from algal biomass using either a single step or a cascaded approach.
