P8 – Mechanisms of Cell Death in Electroporation-based Therapies

There is an increasing interest in judiciously entraining the immune system in the process of non-thermal tissue ablation with electroporation. The mechanisms of cell death is central to the way in which the immune system reacts to tissue ablation. However, the proposed mechanisms of cell death from procedures involving electroporation range from apoptosis to necroptosis to pyroptosis – all of which would have a completely different effect on the immune response. We invite researchers with experience in this field to bring their scientifically validated opinion on this issue to generate a consensus in the field.
