P37 – Models for in vitro electroporation
In vitro models have played an important role in the development of biomedical and industrial applications of electroporation. Historically these were mostly simple 2D monolayers or cell suspensions; however, recent advances in tissue engineering and microfabrication have allowed for the emergence of new in vitro models. These can be used to study the electroporation at cellular level or to simulate the in vivo conditions, reducing the use of laboratory animals in accordance with the 3R ethical rule. This special issue will focus on electroporation-related research performed using emerging in vitro models.
